Shivamogga Airport opened in 2023 and is the closest airport to us. At the time of writing it has direct flights from Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad and Tirupati. Schedules change, so check airline websites.
The drive
- From the airport head to Bhadravati on NH69.
- Continue to Tarikere.
- At Tarikere turn onto the state highway to Chikkamagaluru.
- From town take the road towards Hirekolale and Ulluvagilu.
Is it worth flying to Shivamogga?
If a flight fits your schedule, yes. It cuts the road journey to about 2 hours. Otherwise Mangaluru or Bengaluru have far more flights.
