Kemmangundi was the summer retreat of the Mysore kings and still has the feel of an old hill station. Terraced gardens, a Raj Bhavan guest house, misty viewpoints and some of the best treks in the area start from here.
Getting there
From Tranquil Terrain it is roughly 35 to 40 km. Depending on the road and the booking rules on the Chandra Drona range, you either go over the hills or around via Tarikere and Lingadahalli. Ask us in the morning which way is better that day.
What to do
- Walk the gardens around the Raj Bhavan.
- Trek to Z Point for sunset.
- Take a jeep to Hebbe Falls.
- Stop at Kalhatti Falls on the way down towards Tarikere.
Good to know
Kemmangundi is managed by the state horticulture department and has set visiting hours. Food options are limited, so eat before you go or carry snacks.
Questions travellers ask
