Z Point is a ridge above Kemmangundi with sweeping views over the Bhadra valley and the Western Ghats. It is one of the best sunset spots in the district and an easy enough trek for most people.

Getting there

Drive to Kemmangundi, about 35 to 40 km from Tranquil Terrain. The trek starts near the Raj Bhavan guest house. It is roughly a 1 to 1.5 km walk each way along a narrow trail, with a small waterfall called Shanti Falls on the way. The last part is a steep scramble.

Tips

  • Start the walk at least an hour before sunset and carry a torch for the way back.
  • The trail is narrow with drops on one side. Keep kids close and avoid it in heavy rain.
  • Entry timings are controlled by the horticulture department at Kemmangundi. Check before you go.

Questions travellers ask
