Chikkamagaluru town is the headquarters of the district and the place to go for anything you forgot to pack. It is a compact, friendly town with a busy main road, coffee shops, local eateries, markets and banks.
Getting there
About 20 km from Tranquil Terrain, around 35 to 40 minutes. The KSRTC bus stand is in the centre of town and the railway station is a few kilometres away.
Things to do in town
- Buy fresh coffee powder and beans from the local coffee curing works and shops. Ask for a blend with or without chicory.
- Pick up spices like pepper and cardamom, grown in the estates around.
- Try a Malnad meal or a plate of akki rotti at a local restaurant.
- Use ATMs, pharmacies and supermarkets for anything you need.
Good to know
Most shops close by 9 PM. Sunday evenings can be busy with tourists heading back to Bengaluru. If you need anything urgently, ask us. We go to town often and can help.
