- October to February is the best time for clear views, treks and sightseeing. It is also the busiest.
- June to September is the monsoon. Heavy rain, mist and waterfalls. Best for a cosy villa stay rather than ticking off sights.
- March to May is summer. Warm afternoons, cool nights, coffee blossom if you are lucky and fewer crowds midweek.

Winter and post monsoon (October to February)
Clear skies, cool to cold mornings and green hills. This is harvest time on the coffee estates, so the walks are busy and fragrant. Book early for long weekends, Christmas and New Year.
Summer (March to May)
The plains get very hot but the hills stay comfortable, especially in the mornings and evenings. If the blossom showers arrive, the estates turn white with coffee flowers for a few days. It is a lovely time for a slow pool and villa holiday.
Monsoon (June to September)
The southwest monsoon brings heavy rain, especially in July. Some roads and treks close. Leeches come out. But the waterfalls are spectacular, the mist is magical and rates are often lower. Bring rain gear and a good book.
