Most guests drive to Tranquil Terrain. The roads around Chikkamagaluru are a big part of the experience. A few tips make it much easier.

On ghat roads

  • Use a lower gear going down instead of riding the brakes.
  • Honk before blind corners and stay in your lane.
  • Uphill traffic has the right of way on narrow stretches.
  • Do not stop on bends for photos.

In fog and rain

  • Use low beams and fog lamps. High beams make it worse.
  • Slow down and keep a big gap.
  • Open the windows a crack or use the AC to stop the glass misting.

Fuel and network

Fill up in Chikkamagaluru town or on the highway before you head into the hills. Download offline maps, since mobile network can drop on estate roads.

Visiting Mullayanagiri

Book your vehicle slot online in advance. Parking near the top is limited, so go early. Read more on our Mullayanagiri page.

Reaching Tranquil Terrain

The last stretch from town towards Hirekolale and Ulluvagilu is narrower with bends. If you arrive after dark, call us and we will guide you in.
