Seethalayyanagiri sits on the road to Mullayanagiri and is often the first stop for visitors heading up the Chandra Drona range. The Seethala Mallikarjuna Swamy temple is small and calm, with views across the hills that rival the higher peak on a clear day.
Getting there
From Tranquil Terrain it is about 8 km, roughly 20 minutes. You pass the Kaimara check-post on the way, so the same online vehicle booking applies. Seethalayyanagiri is also where the authorities have set up parking for visitors. From here tourists are encouraged to trek or take permitted vehicles further up.
What to do
- Visit the temple and the small pond next to it.
- Walk along the ridge for views of the Mullayanagiri summit.
- Grab a hot chai and a plate of bajji at the stalls near the parking.
Good to know
During temple fairs and religious festivals, tourist entry to this stretch can be restricted while devotees are allowed. Weekday mornings are the most peaceful. Carry a light jacket, the wind picks up quickly.
