Deviramma Betta is a steep, conical hill near Bindiga with a small shrine to the goddess Deviramma at the top. Once a year, during Deepavali, thousands of devotees climb it through the night, many of them barefoot. The rest of the year it is a quiet place with a sacred feel.
The Bindiga Deviramma temple at the base is an old shrine deeply rooted in local faith.
Getting there
About 25 km from Tranquil Terrain towards the Chandra Drona Parvatha side. Road access and parking during the festival is controlled by the authorities.
About the climb
The trail is steep and rocky, with no proper steps for much of the way. Allow 2 to 3 hours to go up and down. During the festival the climb is very crowded. Outside festival days, check with local authorities whether the trail is open, as access is sometimes restricted.
